Massive Boost for ESUT as NUC Approves AI, Cybersecurity & 3 New Courses – The National Universities Commission (NUC) has officially approved five (5) new full-time undergraduate programmes at Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) for the 2026/2027 academic session, marking a significant expansion of the university’s course offerings in Nigeria.

In a letter signed by the Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the NUC, the Commission approved the introduction of the following B.Sc.courses at the Universities main campus.

The Newly Approved Courses

Intelligence and Security Studies.

Cyber Security.

Data Science.

Software Engineering.

Artificial Intelligence.

The approval was granted following a comprehensive resource verification exercise carried out by a panel of experts to evaluate the adequacy of both human and material resources for the proposed programmes.

The Commission, however, clarified that the approval covers only the full-time mode of the programmes and does not extend to part-time delivery for now.

It added that before the university can commence part-time or postgraduate components of any of the approved undergraduate programmes, it must notify the Commission for further processing and approval.

The Commission further advised the university to ensure the provision of adequate human and material resources to support the effective development and sustained growth of the newly approved programmes.
