RFPTN Edo State Chapter Pays Courtesy Visit to EDOCOHEST Pharmacy Technician Dean – The State Executive Council of the Reformed Forum of Pharmacy Technicians in Nigeria (RFPTN), Edo State Chapter, paid a courtesy visit to the Dean of the Pharmacy Technician Department, Pharm.Dr. Julius Okunzuwa.

The Chairman, Pharm. Tech. Edaigbini Osareimen Omoh, formally presented the proposal for the establishment of a Pharmacy Technician Alumni Association. He explained that the initiative is designed to strengthen the relationship between former students, the department, and current students, while creating a platform for sustained collaboration, networking, and professional development.

In response, the Dean, Dr. Julius Okunzuwa, warmly welcomed the initiative and expressed his full support for the establishment of the Pharmacy Technician Alumni Association.

The Chairman further raised the issue of direct entry for Pharmacy Technicians who have passed the National Pre-Certification Examination (NPCE). He stated that the recent directive by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), requiring previously graduated Pharmacy Technicians to return for an abridged programme leading to the award of a National Diploma (ND) before being uploaded onto the JAMB portal, appeared burdensome. He expressed the association’s position that Pharmacy Technicians who had successfully sat for and passed the NPCE should be considered for direct admission into the university, without being required to undergo an additional abridged programme.

The Chairman also acknowledged and appreciated the Pharmacy Technician Department’s continued support for the association, describing the gesture as a significant and encouraging development. He appealed to the department to sustain its support and strengthen its collaboration with RFPTN.

Addressing the issue of the proposed abridged programme and direct entry, the Dean clarified that the department had not commenced any process concerning the proposed abridged programme recently announced by NBTE.

He further assured the delegation that, once the official circular and guidelines were released by the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, the department would do everything within its capacity to assist Pharmacy Technicians who wished to further their education.

The Dean commended the efforts of the RFPTN Edo State Chapter Executive Council for its activities and contributions towards the advancement of Pharmacy Technicians in the state.

In appreciation, the State Executive Council expressed its gratitude to the Dean for receiving the delegation and for his continued support and commitment to the advancement of Pharmacy Technician education and professional development.
