How much is the Registration?

The registration fee has been set at ₦30,000, and all interested candidates are expected to complete their registration before the deadline. The registration portal will officially close at exactly 12:00 midnight on 17th November 2026, after which no further applications will be accepted. Candidates are therefore advised to register early to avoid last-minute issues or delays.

When will the exam commence?

The examination is set to commence on Wednesday, 25th November 2026, and end on Saturday, 12th December 2026.

Mode of Examination

This year’s examination will be administered using a hybrid format that combines Computer-Based Testing (CBT) with the traditional pen-and-paper method. This means that while some subjects or sections will be conducted digitally on computers, others will still follow the conventional written format. Candidates are therefore expected to be familiar with both testing styles to ensure a smooth and successful examination experience.

How to Register

Candidates are encouraged to visit the Council’s official website (www.neco.gov.ng) through the SSCE External portal (ssceexternal.neco.gov.ng) to commence registration. They are to create an account, purchase the registration quota, and provide their biodata, after which they should visit a trusted cybercafé for biometric capture and to complete the process.

• Passport size photograph is required for the registration. The candidate’s passport size photograph should NOT be more than SIX MONTHS old and must have a white background. System Camera can also be used to snap the passport size photograph at the point of registration as the case may be.
• Candidate’s valid National Identification Number (NIN) must be inputted appropriately before he/she will be able to successfully register for the examination.
• Biometric fingerprints will be captured during the offline registration of each candidate.
  candidates should note that there will be biometric verification during the conduct of the examination.
  candidates found to have mismatched passport photographs/fingerprints at the point of verification are deemed impersonators and would be sanctioned according to extant laws.

Things to take note of

After completing the registration process, each candidate is required to collect the following from the Cybercafé:
i. The examination timetable; and
ii. At least one (1) clear copy of the NECO Photocard, which will serve as an entry pass into the Computer-Based Examination Centre or Examination Hall. (Candidates should note that photocards with unclear passport photographs will not be accepted at the examination centre.)

The Referee’s Attestation section on the Photocard must be duly signed and stamped by any of the following officials:
a) The Principal of a recognized secondary school.
b) An ordained clergyman or a Chief Imam.
c) A commissioned officer of the Nigerian Armed Forces or the Police, not below the rank of Captain or its equivalent.
d) A senior civil servant not below Grade Level 14.
e) A legal practitioner with at least ten years of professional experience.
