NECO 2026 Results: Full SSCE Performance Statistics Revealed
According to NECO, 1,378,048 candidates registered for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination, while 1,371,992 candidates eventually sat for the examination. The Registrar of NECO, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, announced the results on Thursday during a press briefing.
Wushishi disclosed that 804,948 candidates, representing 58.67 per cent, obtained at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics. He further stated that 1,126,118 candidates, representing 84.70 per cent, secured five credits and above, regardless of their performance in English Language and Mathematics.
On examination malpractice, the Registrar disclosed that 1,496 candidates were involved in malpractice during the 2026 examination, compared with 3,878 cases recorded in 2025. This represents a 64.74 per cent reduction in the number of candidates involved in examination malpractice.
During the question-and-answer session, Wushishi attributed the decline partly to the introduction of computer-based examinations, which he said had contributed to reducing malpractice in NECO examinations.
The Registrar also refuted claims linking NECO to so-called “miracle centres.” He explained that the council neither operates nor endorses such centres, noting that NECO owns only one school.
“We register centres and have criteria for which we register these centres. We don’t know miracle centres because we have only one school and we cannot be associated with miracle centres,” Wushishi said.
He further explained that any miracle centres operating in the country are either established by state governments or privately owned, stressing that NECO does not support or promote the practice.
